When you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed password (handled by Supabase, our authentication and database provider). While you use the app, we store the books you add or upload, your reading progress and bookmarks, your vocabulary list, your settings, and anonymous usage records (which features you used and how much, for cost accounting).
To provide translation, read-aloud audio, and pronunciation feedback, the app sends text and audio to Google Cloud services (Gemini for translation, Text-to-Speech, and Speech-to-Text). Read-aloud practice recordings are sent to Google Speech-to-Text for scoring and are not stored — neither by us nor as part of your account. Translations are cached so the same page never needs translating twice.
We count page views with Umami, an open-source analytics tool running on our own server. It sets no cookies, stores no personal data, and cannot follow you to other sites — it records the page visited, the referring site, and coarse details like country, browser, and screen size. Nothing is shared with a third-party advertising or analytics network.
We don't sell or share your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other sites. The only cookies/storage used are the ones that keep you signed in and remember your reading preferences on your device.
You can delete your account yourself at any time from the Account page. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your books, progress, bookmarks, vocabulary, and account record are removed.
