In a future collectivist society, the word 'I' has vanished and people live only for the group. Equality 7-2521 secretly conducts scientific experiments and discovers electricity, but his individualism makes him a criminal. The story is short and written in a simple, direct style. Its clear language and manageable length make it an excellent choice for intermediate English learners who want dystopian fiction.
