The Merchant of Venice
Read this book freeEvery sentence translated, natural audio, one-tap dictionary
In Venice, the merchant Antonio borrows money from the moneylender Shylock to help his friend Bassanio court Portia. The bond is strange: if Antonio cannot repay, Shylock may cut a pound of his flesh. Meanwhile Portia must marry the suitor who chooses the right casket. The play balances comedy, courtroom drama and prejudice, and its clear prose and verse suit intermediate learners.
