Uncle Vanya: Scenes from Country Life in Four Acts

An elderly professor and his young second wife return to the family estate, where his first wife's mother and his daughter manage the property. The visit exposes old resentments about money, work and wasted lives. A country doctor visits daily, and the professor's daughter dreams of a new beginning. The four acts use long, argumentative speeches and everyday conversation, which give learners plenty of useful, repeated English.
