On the Nature of Things

This philosophical poem explains the Epicurean view of the universe: everything is made of atoms, the soul is mortal, and fear of the gods is unfounded. Lucretius uses vivid imagery and reasoned argument to free the reader from superstition. The formal verse may challenge beginners, but the clear logic and repeated vocabulary reward careful reading.
